On Monday 9th February, be aware that transport operations may change rapidly, and you could face delays in the afternoon. It's best to avoid non-essential travel in and around the CBD during this time. But here's where it gets controversial... should we really be encouraging people to stay away, or is this an opportunity to explore alternative routes and discover new parts of the city?
Special event clearways will be in effect across Sydney, so watch out for signs and avoid parking in restricted areas to prevent your vehicle from being towed. And this is the part most people miss: these clearways are essential for ensuring smooth traffic flow during major events, but they can also cause confusion for those unfamiliar with the temporary changes.
Buses will be affected by the road closures, with some routes being diverted. Closed bus stops will be clearly signposted, so keep an eye out for these updates. From midday Sunday until 2pm on Thursday, buses usually heading to and from Circular Quay will start and end their journeys at Martin Place. This means you'll need to catch light rail or trains to continue your trip between these two locations during this period.
