East Market welcomes a vibrant Mexican restaurant, a homecoming for its owners, Jason Berry and Michael Reginbogin. Berry, a 2002 Wharton graduate, and his husband, Reginbogin, a Starr Restaurants veteran, have opened Mi Vida, a Mexican restaurant with a unique twist. Located near the Canopy by Hilton hotel, it's a short stroll from the former Mulherin's Pizzeria and Iron Hill Brewery. This marks the fourth Mi Vida location and the 16th restaurant from Knead Hospitality & Design, with most of their establishments in or around Washington, D.C. The restaurant's menu, crafted with culinary director Roberto Santibañez, blends traditional Mexican flavors with modern touches. The bar boasts an impressive collection of over 130 tequilas and mezcals, perfect for a group gathering. Mi Vida's dinner menu features a generous platter called Un Poco de Todo, designed for three people, offering a variety of Mexican delights. The average per-person check is around $50, making it an affordable dining experience. The restaurant also caters to larger groups with a private dining room and an enclosed patio, providing a cozy atmosphere. Berry and Reginbogin's expansion to Philadelphia is strategic, driven by the city's accessibility, understanding of the market, and a thriving food scene. They aim to bring their unique Mexican cuisine to a wider audience, with plans for another Philadelphia location, a casual Tex-Mex restaurant called Mi Casa, set to open later this year.
